It’s rare these days to find a company that produces results far exceeding one’s expectations, but Rolling Acres is such a company. They did a beautiful job with our property, creating a visually stunning oasis of tranquility that grows lovelier each day and brings endless pleasure to our family.

During the building of our house, we relied on Rolling Acres’ expertise in a wide range of areas, including overall landscape design, grading, drainage, tree protection, selection and planting of specimen trees as well as other trees and shrubs, retaining walls and other hardscape, irrigation, fencing, and the design of perennial gardens. They were always responsive to our ideas and able to strike a good balance between aesthetics and practicality. They worked closely with our building contractor to ensure that the execution of a comprehensive, multi-phase landscaping plan was seamlessly integrated with the construction of our house.

In the area of specimen trees, Rolling Acres far surpasses its competitors in terms of its extensive private collection and its capability to transport and plant large specimen trees. Customers from all over the country visit the company’s nursery to select unique trees and shrubs, both large and small, that have been collected and grown for many years. We greatly enjoyed walking through the nursery to pick out our trees.

The goal of Rolling Acres is to satisfy customers 100% of the time. The entire staff is highly professional, they stand behind their work, and they are meticulous in their execution. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the hands-on owner, John Hyman, who visits our property regularly to check on ongoing work.

As 2008 winds to a close, wanted to drop a quick note of thanks. The warm December days of late have allowed us to use the backyard quite a bit...and wanted to capture our testimonial more formally:

We came to RAL with a pretty big need...design and build a backyard setting that would be a place of recreation for 4 kids under 10, be suitable for entertaining, solve our drainage issues, and be cost-doable.

Mark and John (and the team at RAL) proved creative, dependable and very detailed-oriented. We had some good give-and-take on design ideas and then began the construction phase. A couple days into the project, as I surveyed the drainage solution and concrete under layers, I was thoroughly convinced that landscape architecture is not an area where you want to skimp. RAL's principals were on-site everyday to get the grades right and to inspect the work. We finished on time, with no "change order" surprise bills and couldn't be happier.

We now have a "destination" backyard. The neighborhood kids flock to it, and we also have a yard suitable for "grown-up" parties as well. Thank you Rolling Acres!

Dean and I want to thank you for the great work you did on our landscaping. Mark, our designer, thoroughly understood our concerns about our children’s safety and drainage issues and incorporated solutions into the plan. Our front garden wall, new entrance walkways, and plants are beautiful and have greatly increased the curb appeal of our home. We also love the rear garden hardscaping that Mark designed. The built-in gas grill and the charcoal grill that doubles as a fire pit are the centerpieces of outdoor gatherings. The arbor with the wisteria and outdoor curtains create a wonderful outdoor room. Your installation group, led by Jeff Bell, was friendly and completed their work quickly and on schedule. They also did a good job of coordinating with our builders while our home was under renovation.

Since the completion of our project, your team has continued to provide excellent service. Anytime we have a question or problem with one of the plants, Jeff has come to our home promptly and developed a solution with us. You produced a beautiful outdoor setting that we now enjoy during the day and the evenings. Overall, we were very pleased with your entire team. Keep up the great work and again, our sincere thanks!

In Spring 2008, I approached a number of firms for a proposal for design, construction and installation of a pergola over my driveway entrance. The project was challenging as the pergola needed to be extremely high and extremely wide and support two mature and very heavy wisteria vines.

The design produced by Mark Voelkel of Rolling Acres was outstanding: absolutely beautiful: managing to make a large structure that needed to be solid and strong look balanced, graceful, light and airy.

However, Rolling Acres did not stop at a gorgeous design: they then implemented the project with a very sound and solid construction, including beautifully edged and angled woodwork. They were efficient, timely, professional, responsive and friendly throughout (including working with me to address a last-minute change of stain color).
